What we stand for and advocate
The Association of Austrian Private Hospitals is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the economic and social interests of hospitals, care and rehabilitation facilities in Austria whose legal entities are not regional authorities, and to regulating working conditions within this sector.
We stand for:
- Independent and competent representation of interests
- Quality awareness at all levels
- Internal and external networking with the most important stakeholders
- Promoting legal certainty and transparency for our members
We stand up for:
- Carrier diversity
- Freedom of choice for patients and attending physicians
- Commitment to a healthcare system financed on the basis of solidarity - fairness with regard to benefits and counter-benefits in the compulsory health insurance share
- Sustainability
- Major employers who make significant contributions to the economy
We are committed to diversity of providers, because private clinics relieve the burden on the healthcare system, uphold freedom of choice for patients and doctors, and are major employers.
Private patients make a significant contribution to alleviating the burden on the solidarity-based system, because the services provided by private clinics are funded exclusively by social insurance contributions to PRIKRAF.
Equal pay for equal performance and equal quality!
Our commitment to quality:
For Austrian private hospitals, high safety standards are a given. Our facilities have always been pioneers not only in adhering to quality and safety standards but also in verifying them: The majority are certified according to international standards and have these standards verified by external auditors as part of annual audits.
As the importance of quality of results in healthcare policy in Austria and Europe is continuously increasing, there have been statutory measurement procedures for reviewing treatment results for several years. The results also confirm the excellent quality assurance in Austrian private hospitals.
Our member hospitals have participated in A-IQI, the Federal Agency's project to measure the quality of results, since the beginning. In addition, all Austrian private hospitals comply with the guidelines on care and infrastructure laid down by the Austrian Healthcare Structure Plan (ÖSG) and are monitored by PRIKRAF (Privatkrankenanstalten-Finanzierungsfonds).
The aim of these statutory inspection procedures, namely the best possible treatment outcomes in the interests of patients, applies to Austria's private hospitals. This is also demonstrated every year by the report of the Patient Advocate.
However, our quality standards go even further: our hospitals combine these excellent treatment results with human attention and individual care. The well-being of our patients is our top priority when it comes to their care!
