The history of the association
In 1947, the foundation stone was laid with the founding meeting of the "Association of Sanatoriums, Private, Therapeutic and Nursing Homes". The association comprised 7 members at the time.
In 1952, the organization was transformed into the "Association of Private Hospitals in Vienna" and the minutes of the committees at the time contained discussion points on a minimum wage tariff for private hospitals.
In 1953, the association was officially granted collective bargaining status and the first collective agreement was negotiated and concluded with the Austrian Trade Union Federation. The collective agreement came into force on December 1, 1953. The first collective agreement of 1954 already included 10 hospitals.
In 1958, Lower Austria and Burgenland were added to the association following a reorganization, and in 1985 the association was expanded to cover the whole of Austria. Since then, the name of the association has been the "Association of Austrian Private Hospitals".
In 1986, the association successfully initiated the founding of the Austrian Private Hospitals, Purchasing and Business Cooperative (P.E.G.).
From 1988, the association actively participated in the founding of the UEHP (European Union of Private Hospitals) within the framework of the CEHP (Comité Européen de l'Hospitalisation Privée). The UEHP was founded in 1991 and the Association of Austrian Private Hospitals is a founding member.
Since 1986, there has been a strong expansion of members, which continues to this day.
