Guiding principles
Our commitment
1
Focus on patients
Our primary task is to treat illnesses, alleviate pain and discomfort and provide patients with care and confidence during their stay.
2
Quality, development and innovation
We provide first-class medical services at the highest level. We undergo ongoing reviews and evaluations to demonstrate the quality of our results and to ensure continuous improvement. We are committed to development and innovation in the healthcare sector.
3
Freedom of choice
The free choice of doctor is a valuable asset and guarantees that the necessary relationship of trust can develop between patients and the doctors of their choice. The free choice of doctor guarantees the continuity of treatment.
4
Efficiency, competition and diversity of providers
The effective and efficient use of available resources is deeply engrained in the DNA of our member companies. Clinics without a public service mandate have no entitlement to operating loss cover and are therefore responsible for their business operations without a safety net. The careful use of limited resources is an ethical imperative in order to be able to continue to provide the population with healthcare services. We play an important role here and serve as a driving force and discussion partner. The healthcare system as a whole benefits from the diversity of providers.
5
Employee orientation
We are convinced that well-trained and motivated employees are an essential prerequisite for high quality. For this reason, we continuously invest in training and further education, team building and the development of our managers. Values such as integrity, empathy, human care, responsibility, quality awareness and team spirit are practiced on a daily basis. We make a significant contribution to the training of healthcare professionals by offering work placements.
6
Fairness and transparency
We believe that fair framework conditions should apply to all service providers. We therefore demand equal pay for equal services with equally defined quality. We advocate a comprehensive and standardized reporting system for all sectors and are prepared to put quality figures on the table in order to achieve better comparability for patients. In order to improve quality and optimize the use of limited resources, it is essential to give people an account of the services, quality and costs of the Austrian healthcare system.
7
Principle of benefits in kind and solidarity-based financing
We are fully committed to these principles. Key structural elements of the Austrian healthcare system are the principle of benefits in kind (treatment services are billed directly to the insurance companies, which means that patients do not have to pay in advance and worry about reimbursement) and solidarity-based financing (higher income earners pay higher contributions, while everyone is entitled to the same benefits).
8
Sustainability
We are aware of our responsibility to provide our medical and nursing services in compliance with all medical requirements and with a minimum consumption of resources and CO2 emissions. We are constantly making improvements to protect the environment and to enable government targets towards climate neutrality.
9
Compliance
Acting with integrity is the self-evident basis of all our professional activities and decisions. We are committed to complying with all applicable legal, official and professional regulations, standards and guidelines as well as fundamental ethical values.
