Privatklinik Wehrle-Diakonissen: Another record year for babies

With 733 newborns, the popular private clinic recorded a record number of births in 2021 for the second year in a row.

In the 'pandemic year' of 2020, the staff at the Wehrle-Diakonissen Private Hospital, together with the new parents, were delighted with the largest number of babies ever born at the hospital. But 2021 brought another increase for the clinic: 733 babies saw the light of day there last year. "We feel the desire for competent and warm care and I am very pleased that the huge commitment of everyone involved is having such a positive effect on the birth figures! We see the high number of expectant parents who decide to give birth at our hospital as a sign of confidence and as an award for the performance of our entire obstetrics team," comments Director of Nursing Birgit Zellner on the baby boom.

Dr. Alexander Georgoulopoulos, coordinator of the Birth Competence Centre, sees further reasons for the sustained positive trend in the successful mix of individual care and personal advice in combination with the family atmosphere and modern medical technology. "With us, women have the unique opportunity in Salzburg to bringtheir trustedgynecologist with them to the birth. The free choice of doctor gives many expectant mothers a good feeling and the necessary security. We are delighted that so many parents-to-be place their trust in us, especially in these challenging times. Nevertheless, every birth is unique and always a very emotional experience for everyone involved," explains Dr. Georgoulopoulos.

The competent and dedicated support and care of new mothers and their newborns is the focus at all times. In addition to thegynaecologist of choice, the parents-to-be are supported around the clock by an experienced team of midwives, paediatricians, highly qualified nurses and ward doctors, as well as the anaesthesia team if required.

The Wehrle-Diakonissen Private Hospital has two modern delivery rooms, equipped with everything you need for a 'moving birth'. Many women also like the option of a water birth in the birthing bathtub. Alternative pain therapies, pain-relieving medication or an epidural can be used at any time. And with the necessary medical technology in the background, it is also possible to react immediately in the event of a risk situation; a caesarean section or intensive medical care at home are possible at any time if required.
