Privatklinik Goldenes Kreuz: Baby wish in new hands

Dr. Nicole Petrovits has headed the Fertility Center at the Goldenes Kreuz Private Clinic since 14 February 2022. She is one of the few women in Austria in a management position in this field.

Dr. Nicole Petrovits, an experienced reproductive medicine specialist, is taking over the fertility center at the Goldenes Kreuz Private Clinic, which is reopening in 2021. The specialist in gynecology and obstetrics and general practitioner has been helping couples on the path to their dream child for many years, most recently as deputy medical director of a fertility clinic in Vienna.

Experienced, predominantly female team
Nicole Petrovits is one of only a few women in Austria in a management position in this field. From the beginning of March, her colleague Dr. Helene Esber will support her as deputy medical director. The core team of gynaecologists, embryologists, psychologists and the organizational director and assistant work closely with medical experts from other specialist areas. "Only by working closely with doctors and embryologists can we plan and carry out the best individual fertility treatment for each woman," explains the reproductive medicine specialist. The collaboration with urologists should also enable rapid medical clarification for patients' partners.

Treatment success begins before the procedure
The new head of the fertility center describes her approach to fertility treatment as holistic: "We start with a very detailed consultation to get to know each individual woman's medical history and status. This is the only way to ensure tailored preparation for the treatment." For example, depending on requirements and in interdisciplinary collaboration with other experts, psychological counseling or meditation and acupuncture for relaxation are offered. TCM is used to restore hormonal balance and combat mucosal problems, while nutritional advice is provided to promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce excess weight. Endometriosis is also clarified and treated in advance. There will be close cooperation with the Endometriosis Center at the Goldenes Kreuz.

Education, intuition and trust as ingredients
In this way, women who wish to have children are prepared for the actual fertility treatment with the involvement of their partners. This is because many factors of a healthy lifestyle are crucial for the success of artificial insemination: for example, the right diet, stress reduction, avoiding nicotine or healthy teeth. Women who wish to have children should be given in-depth information about their bodies and develop a good sense of themselves. In addition to a warm and familiar atmosphere, patients' trust in her and her team is also an important prerequisite for the success of fertility treatment. "Together with my team, I want to be there for each individual patient and support them in the best possible way at every stage. The procedures are not purely technical in nature, there is so much more to it."

IVF: from compulsory to optional
"When the women finally come to the embryo transfer, the first thing they have to do is arrive, relax and realize that it is an uplifting moment when they receive the embryo," says Nicole Petrovits, describing the desired setting during in vitro fertilization (IVF). With the Head of the Clinical Laboratory at the Kinderwunschzentrum, Dr. Kristin Lietz, she has one of the first and most experienced embryologists in Austria at her side: "Dr. Lietz covers the entire spectrum of embryology and specializes in difficult procedures. Experience and great intuition are particularly important in this field."
