Your rights as a patient

As a patient, you should be aware of these rights.

Patients' rights (in accordance with Section 5a of the Hospitals and Health Resorts Act (KAKuG))

  • Right to information: about the rights to which they are entitled and the right to access their medical history
  • Right to information: Patients must be truthfully informed by their attending physician about the diagnosis (examination result) and the possible types of treatment. The proposed treatment must be explained to the patient in a comprehensible and detailed manner, the more uncertain the success of the treatment and the more serious the consequences of the treatment. Patients have the right to a personal and detailed discussion. The patient must be informed about the treatment carried out and its documentation by the respective attending physician. Patients must also be informed and informed about the costs incurred for the treatment by their attending physician.
  • Right to self-determination: Patients must consent to medical treatment and they can appoint trusted persons who must be involved in decisions.
  • Right to data protection, confidentiality and non-disclosure: The clinic and its staff are bound by law to maintain confidentiality. However, patients authorize the hospital to provide social and private supplementary insurance companies with the necessary information, particularly in connection with cost coverage and billing.
  • Entitlement to visitation and contact with the outside world
  • Entitlement to pastoral care and psychological support
