As part of the 2024 collective bargaining negotiations concluded in May 2024, a two-year collective agreement was agreed, which also includes the framework conditions for 2025. Based on the published consumer price indices, the details of the new collective agreement have now been finalized and will remain valid until at least the end of 2025. The agreement takes into account the recent significant fall in the inflation rate and brings important improvements for the employees of private hospitals: For example, a long-standing demand from employees for more vacation days will be met and night, Sunday and public holiday allowances will be increased again in 2025. Together with the increase from 2024, this results in a significant increase of 62.5% in total for night, Sunday and public holiday bonuses.
For the year 2025, an increase in collectively agreed wages and salaries based on the consumer price index (CPI) for the period from December 1, 2023 to October 31, 2024 - increased by a premium of 0.45% - was agreed. The agreed inflation rate for this period is 2.25%, resulting in an increase of 2.7% from April 1, 2025.
In addition to the salary increases, further significant improvements were agreed:
- The allowances for night shifts, Sundays and public holidays will be increased again, with a 25% increase agreed for 2025. Employees can therefore look forward to a total increase in bonuses of 62.5% for 2024 and 2025.
- Since January 1, 2025, long-serving employees have received additional vacation days: an additional vacation day after five years of service and a further vacation day after ten years.
- Relevant previous periods of service will also be credited indefinitely with effect from January 1, 2025, with the possibility of offsetting overpayments.
- The existing salary scales will also be extended by three levels in order to further improve development opportunities within the companies.
Stefan Günther, Secretary General and Head of Negotiations for the Association of Private Hospitals, explains the new collective agreement as follows: "With this agreement, we are taking account of the economic framework conditions as well as the needs of the workforce. The increase in vacation entitlement, the significant increase in allowances for night shifts, Sundays and public holidays and the adjustments to the salary scales are an important step towards further strengthening the attractiveness of professions in the healthcare sector."
