At the Humanomed Group's annual autumn reception in Vienna, the focus this year was on a special anniversary: Humanomed has been a reliable partner in the Austrian healthcare system for 50 years. Numerous representatives from the healthcare sector, social insurance and business accepted the invitation of the owner family Dkfm. Helmut Eder, Peri Eder and Mag. Johannes Eder as well as the managing directors DI Werner Hörner, Mag. Ulrike Koscher-Preiss and Mag. Herbert Ratz to an evening that was all about looking back, meeting people and looking ahead.
The program took the guests from a cinematic journey through the eventful history of the company to greetings from Deputy General Manager Canan Aytekin (Pension Insurance) and Dr. Peter Eichler (UNIQA Insurance) to a discussion with the owners and managing directors. The evening was moderated by Ute Pichler, who led through the event with a successful mixture of information and ease. An atmospheric Humanomed video and the subsequent meal together rounded off the evening at the MQ Libelle.
"Our autumn reception shows how much Humanomed has grown over the last five decades - thanks to the tireless efforts of our employees and the trust and cooperation with our partners. This anniversary is not just a look back, but also a look forward to the next 50 years," says Johannes Eder.
Development milestones
The history of Humanomed began in 1975 with the Althofen spa. The founders, Hans Eder and Helmut "Pipsi" Mayr, set a milestone with the first contract between a private spa and the Austrian social security system.
The Althofen Private Clinic opened in 1979 with 83 beds and a focus on internal medicine, orthopaedics and orthopaedic surgery.
The Villach Private Clinic was opened in 1985, at that time with a new concept of employed specialists and attending physicians. Today, it offers a wide range of services from internal medicine to neurosurgery, supplemented by radiology and nuclear medicine.
In 2010, Privatklinik Althofen was transferred to the modernized Privatklinik Maria Hilf in Klagenfurt, which now has 160 beds, while the former Althofen site was developed into a specialized rehabilitation center.
Humanomed also set the tone in digitalization: Digital innovations were driven forward with the founding of Humanomed IT Solutions in 2013 and the hospital information system ebody, the founding of Human & Digital in 2020 and the acquisition of the software company bap in 2023.
2022 saw the opening of the BLEIB BERG F.X. Mayr Retreat for modern prevention. Mayr Retreat for modern prevention opened in 2022, following the acquisition of the Bleibergerhof in 2018. The Humanomed Group expanded its range of services once again with the takeover of the Occupational Medicine Institute Carinthia (AMI) in 2021 and the opening of Outpatient Rehab Klagenfurt in 2023.
Today, the Group employs over 1,350 people, making it one of Austria's leading private healthcare providers.
