Vienna, May 10, 2022: The Health Center for the Self-Employed is the first facility in Austria to offer electronic reporting of outpatient specialist appointments via ELGA. This digitalization measure saves insured persons time and increases patient safety.
Since the beginning of May, the Health Center for the Self-Employed has been the first facility in Austria to offer outpatient reporting of specialist appointments via ELGA. This saves patients valuable time and increases patient safety, as they no longer have to wait for paper reports, store them securely and bring them with them to other appointments, for example to obtain a second opinion or for a planned operation. Electronic reporting also simplifies communication between the various authorized healthcare providers, who can now access relevant patient health data directly via the ELGA portal. This makes diagnosis and treatment processes more comprehensible and avoids duplicate and multiple findings.
"In our health center, patients can find all important health services under one roof. In addition, our telemedical and digital services - such as the electronic medical reports - offer the self-employed even more flexibility," says Maria Lesterl, Managing Director of the Health Center for the Self-Employed. "The SVS has been focusing on the expansion of digital services for many years, because they are the future. This new opportunity to move from paper reports to digital reports is therefore fully in line with our comprehensive digitalization strategy," says Strategic Managing Director Tibor Klein, BSc MA, welcoming the new service.
The legal framework for ELGA outpatient clinic findings was created with the rollout in the outpatient sector at the beginning of February. Initially, it will be possible to report on outpatient ophthalmologist appointments. By the end of the year, the service will be successively expanded so that the other specialties offered in the clinic can also be made available via ELGA.
