The second edition, which will take place on May 25 in Lisbon, will exceed the number of applications received last year by 20%. Under the patronage of the Portuguese Presidency, the European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP) and the Portuguese Association of Private Hospitals (APHP), in collaboration with EY, are once again organizing the European Private Hospital Awards. For this second edition, which will take place on May 25 in Lisbon, 87 entries from 10 European countries have been received, significantly exceeding the 72 entries from the first edition, which also took place in Portugal.
The applications come from the following countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Bulgaria, Poland, Greece and Italy. The European Private Hospital Awards - an initiative of APHP and UEHP to recognize the growing contribution of 5,000 private hospitals and clinics to better access to healthcare in Europe - will reward achievements and best practices in seven categories: BEST PATIENT-CENTERED INITIATIVE; GREEN HOSPITALS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY; HEALTHCARE INNOVATION; COLLABORATIVE HEALTHCARE PROJECTS; EXCELLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE; BEST HEALTHCARE REPORTING; BEST APPLICATION
The evaluation process is led by an independent international jury made up of ten European personalities from or closely associated with the healthcare sector: Carlo Signorelli - Fondazione Sanità Futura;Cristian Silviu Busoi - Member of the European Parliament (MEP); Christian Egle - Ernst & Young (EY);Véronique Molières - Committee for Sustainable Development in Health (C2DS); Isabel Aldir - Advisor to the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic; Hans Martens - European Health Policy Expert; Joaquim Cunha - Health Cluster Portugal (HCP); Carina Escobar - Spanish Platform of Patient Organizations (POP); Felisbela Lopes - Media Expert; Clara Almeida Santos - Media Expert.
For Oscar Gaspar, President of APHP and Vice President of UEHP, "these awards were long overdue given the dynamism of the European private hospital sector, the level of specialization achieved, the leading position in terms of investment, management, patient orientation and clinical approaches". Note: Austria is represented at this year's EPHA by five member clinics of the Association of Austrian Private Hospitals: Esslernschule - Notube.GmbH (Best Patient-Oriented Initiative), Kokon Bad Erlach (Best Patient-Oriented Initiative), Privatklinik Döbling (Green Hospitals and Social Responsibility), Klinikum Bad Gastein (Green Hospitals and Social Responsibility) and Kokon Rohrbach Berg (Innovation in Healthcare).
