FutureTalk 2024 brought together industry experts and visionaries to shape the future of private healthcare. The two-day event focused on exciting presentations and lively discussions.
The first day began with the Association's Annual General Meeting, followed by the official opening of the FutureTalk in the afternoon entitled "Shaping the future of private healthcare". The Association President warmly welcomed the participants before moderator Andreas Obrecht led through the program. The presentations began with an international outlook by Paul Garassus, President of the UEHP (European Union of Private Hospitals). Cyril Toma, Managing Partner of ICME, offered a fascinating look at trends in the non-European healthcare industry using examples from Malaysia, Abu Dhabi and the USA. Finally, Peter Köppl, Mastermind Public Affairs Consulting, focused on the impact of political decisions on private healthcare provision. The first day concluded with an exciting talk on the topic of "Where is private healthcare heading?", in which Peter Eichler (Austrian Association of Insurance Companies), Köksal Baltaci (Die Presse), Peter Köppl and Cyril Toma discussed their views on future financing models, international experiences and the next steps in private medicine.
The second day began with the presentation of two important studies. Peter Hajek, market and opinion researcher, presented the results of a survey on the perception of private healthcare in Austria. Martin Gleitsmann from Economica then analyzed the economic impact of private healthcare on the healthcare and national economic system. The subsequent discussion centered on the topic of "Complementary". Lisz Hirn, philosopher, Martin Gleitsmann and Georg Rüter (Zweckverband freigemeinnütziger Krankenhäuser Münsterland und Ostwestfalen) shed light on the challenges and potential of supplementing the public healthcare system with private services.
The event offered participants a comprehensive overview of the current and future challenges of private healthcare - from sustainable hospital concepts and digital innovations to social and economic impacts. With groundbreaking presentations, lively discussions and international exchange, valuable impetus was provided for the future!
