Following the successful premiere in 2023, a specialist congress for orthopaedics and trauma surgery will be held for the second time at the Privatklinik Graz Ragnitz from April 11 to 13, 2024. More than 40 renowned speakers from Austria and Germany will share the latest scientific findings on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the spine and shoulder, hip and knee joints.
The specialist areas of orthopaedics and trauma surgery have been a key medical focus at Privatklinik Graz Ragnitz for many years. "I am proud that, following the successful inaugural event in 2023, we are once again able to facilitate scientific discourse in these specialist areas at the highest medical level this year," says Prim. Dr. Pedram Afschar, Medical Director and Managing Director of Privatklinik Graz Ragnitz.
Due to the high level of interest, the Ragnitz Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery Congress will be expanded this year to include an update on the diagnosis and treatment of spinal diseases and extended to three days. "We are delighted that the congress has been expanded this year to include a focus on the spine and that we can discuss the current challenges and opportunities in this area with top-class speakers," explain Dr. Rainer Gumpert and DDr. Manuel Mrfka from the Spine Centre Graz-Ragnitz.
On the following two days, the focus will once again be on joint surgery. In addition to the latest scientific findings and treatment methods following injuries, the focus will be on new surgical techniques for joint preservation. In addition, innovative minimally invasive surgical methods for joint replacement and so-called "fast track surgery" concepts will be discussed scientifically. These allow patients to mobilize quickly after surgery with less pain. Joint replacement operations are already being performed abroad on an outpatient basis or with one-day admissions in this way.
The scientific committee was expanded to eight experts this year. It consists of the attending physicians of the private clinic Priv.-Doz. Dr. Heimo Clar, Dr. Rainer Gumpert, Dr. Jürgen Mandl, DDr. Manuel Mrfka, Univ.-Doz. Dr. Gert Schippinger and Dr. Wolfgang Zinser as well as Dr. Florian Dirisamer and associate professor Dr. Christian Fink.
In total, more than 40 renowned speakers have been recruited for the congress, who will share their latest scientific findings with the participants. For example, Dr. Christian Fink, who has attracted attention in recent months for his treatment of David Alaba and Marco Schwarz, will present his most difficult cases of "Knee surgery in elite sport" on Saturday.

An exhibition area with specialist presentations and an evening event round off the program.
